Find Arc Raiders' Digging Up Dirt dead drop at Santa Maria Houses in Buried City, with the rooftop route, courtyard fountain location, rewards and tips.

Finding the Dead Drop Without Wasting a Raid.

Digging Up Dirt looks like one of those quick Celeste jobs you'll knock out between loot runs, especially if you've already picked up a few ARC Raiders Items and feel ready for Old Town. Then you reach Santa Maria Houses and start doing what most players do: checking doors, alleys, balconies, and every patch of open ground that could possibly count as a courtyard. That's the trap. The dead drop isn't in an exterior square at all. It's tucked inside the building, in a sand-choked courtyard that only makes sense once you stop treating the place like a normal street-level location. You need to get above it first. If you're stuck, don't keep running laps around the marked building. Look at the roofs.

The Roof Route Is the Whole Trick.

Approach Santa Maria Houses from the northern rooftops when you can. The yellow bell tower is useful for getting your bearings, but don't blindly head straight for it. The entry you want is around the nearby pinkish section of the complex, where an upper opening gives you a way inside. It's easy to miss because the route doesn't look dramatic. There's no huge quest marker screaming at you. Just a roof hatch or window-like gap that feels like part of the ruined scenery. Drop through, follow the interior path down, and use the zipline if it's the cleanest way to descend. From there, find the break in the wall leading into the enclosed courtyard. The place is small, which is good for navigation and terrible if somebody's waiting with a shotgun. Pause before you step through. You can often hear another Raider moving around before you see them.

Get the Interaction Done, Then Decide What's Worth Risking.

Inside the courtyard, head for the little fountain poking through the sand near the middle. That's the dead drop. Don't just glance at it and assume the job is complete; wait for the interaction prompt, finish it, and check that the tracker changes. Plenty of people leave too early after reaching the right room. You don't need to carry a special quest object out, either, so the important part is securing that interaction. After that, the raid is yours to play however you want. If the building is quiet, have a look around. If gunfire is close or ARC patrols are making noise upstairs, leave. There's no prize for turning a simple quest into a long fight. A light kit and a quick exit plan usually beat trying to clear every floor.

What I like about this quest is that it teaches a useful Buried City habit without spelling it out. Streets aren't always routes, roofs aren't just cover, and a broken upper window can be more valuable than a front door. Keep that in mind for later jobs. If you're planning another run and weighing up supplies or ARC Coins for sale, remember that knowing the route matters more here than bringing heavy gear. Reach the roof, enter from above, hit the fountain, and get out before Old Town notices you're there.
