The Flow Controller is one of those Arc Raiders quest items that can turn a clean Stella Montis run into a twenty-minute loot crawl. The best first stop right now is the upper lobby, not the older Medical Research route many players still follow; keep the rest of your ARC Raiders Items space open, then check Level 3 before committing to a deeper sweep. The item does not appear in one fixed crate every raid, so treat this as a priority location rather than a promise.

Start at the Level 3 Lobby

Once inside Stella Montis, push toward the upper lobby and inspect the circular sofas. Check the cushions, the floor around each seat, and nearby surfaces before opening every ordinary container. The Flow Controller is small enough to disappear against the indoor furniture, especially when you are moving quickly or watching for another raider.

After the seating area, work across the nearby Security Checkpoint. Search containers, corners, and low shelves instead of staring only at large loot boxes. From what I've seen, this short sweep is faster than wandering through the entire facility, and it gives you a clear read on whether another player has already cleaned the main area.

A Three-Stop Search Route

Don't improvise the search every raid. Use a repeatable loop that gives the lobby the highest priority while preserving enough time for extraction.

Enter Stella Montis and head directly toward the Lobby.
Search every circular sofa on Level 3 and the floor around the seating.
Check Security Checkpoint containers and overlooked furniture.
Move to the upstairs section of Assembly Workshops if the lobby is empty.
Finish at Medical Research only when the route remains safe and your inventory has room.

This order also helps with RNG. You may not find the item on the first stop, but you avoid spending the opening minutes crossing the map for an older lead while another player checks the more useful area.

Which Backup Area Deserves Your Time?

Assembly Workshops and Medical Research still belong in your plan, just not at the front of it. Assembly is especially easy to search badly because players often clear the lower rooms and leave without checking upstairs. Medical Research makes sense as a final sweep when you are already nearby, but forcing a full detour after the lobby is empty can cost more time than the possible loot is worth.

The Mistake That Costs Most Runs

Finding the Flow Controller is only half the job. The common mistake is staying for extra loot after the quest item is secured, especially when your bag also contains a Magnetron, documents, or other objective gear. Mark your safest exit mentally before entering the lobby, avoid unnecessary fights, and don't let a tempting container turn a successful run into a desperate sprint.

Pair It With Snap and Salvage

The Flow Controller is commonly tied to Snap and Salvage on Stella Montis, so a focused run can cover several objectives at once. Leave room for the controller, take the rover photograph in the Sandbox, check the Security Checkpoint for documents, and keep the route flexible if another raider reaches the lobby first. I could be wrong but, a normal raid is usually easier for learning this path than a Night Raid, since dark interiors make small objects and player movement harder to read. Once the item is secured, think about extraction rather than extra DPS or side loot, and consult ARC Items only after you are safely out.
