"Dust on the Wires" can look simple on paper, but it really isn't. Shani sends you out expecting a clean investigation, and instead you're stuck doing every step in one life on Spaceport. That's the part that catches people. If you get dropped before you leave with the final note, the whole thing wipes and you're back to square one. So don't treat it like a casual loot run. Go in with a route, keep your head down, and save the side distractions for another match if you're also farming ARC Raiders Coins while you're out there.
Start at the Field Depot
Your first stop should be the east side of Spaceport. You're looking for a Field Depot, one of those compact buildings with the tall antenna that sticks out from a mile away. Step inside and use the field radio terminal. That sends the scout team's last report back to Shani and kicks the mission forward. It also gives you a clearer idea of where the patrol was supposed to be heading, which helps a lot once you start crossing the map. Don't hang around after that. People tend to drift into fights here, and that's usually where a good run starts going bad.
Make for the Raider Tower
From there, head west toward the Maintenance Hangar. A lot of players rush straight into the hangar, but that's not what you want yet. Just north of it, you'll find an old Raider Tower. Climb to the top and interact with the terminal up there. It's a quick hack, but the climb leaves you exposed, so take a second and listen before you commit. Once the terminal is done, the next set of coordinates comes through and points you toward the last stretch of the investigation. It feels straightforward at this stage, but don't relax too early. Most failed attempts happen after this point because players think the hard part is over.
Find the Wreckage and the Note
Come back down and move around to the southwest side of the Maintenance Hangar. Follow the road and watch for the signs of a fight. You'll notice a mess of knocked-over carts, scattered debris, and the kind of scene that makes it obvious the patrol didn't make it far. Interact with the traces there to transmit the location. Then keep moving a little farther along that same road. Near a barrel and some old tarps, you'll find the patrol's remains. Loot the Scout Patrol Note from the body. If you've got a safe pocket augment, use it right away. Seriously, don't gamble with this item. Losing it to a camper near extract is the sort of thing that makes people log off for the night.
Leave Fast and Turn It In
Once the note is in your inventory, that's your cue to leave. Don't stop to rummage through nearby containers, and don't take a fight unless you absolutely have to. Pick the nearest extraction route or elevator and get out of Spaceport clean. Back in Speranza, hand the note over to Shani and you'll wrap up the quest, get the Fax Machine backpack charm, and open the door for the next part of her story. It's not a long mission, but it is punishing if you get greedy, so keep the run tight, play smart, and if you're sorting your loadout budget around ARC Raiders Coins cheap options, make sure survival comes first.
